I teach graduate and undergraduate courses in computational linguistics as well as more in-depth seminars, such as computational syntax. In the future, I plan to teach seminar courses on parsing, dialog systems, and machine learning for natural language.
Computational linguistics bridges both linguistics and computer science. I firmly believe that both have an equally important role in doing good work in computational linguistics, despite recent trends which require considerably less linguistic sophistication of computational linguists than in previous decades. My courses require linguistics students to master many aspects of computer science and computer science students to develop a deeper understanding of human languages.
